Dr. Ansgar Olsen was born in upstate New York and raised in Chicago, IL. He attended the University of Iowa, earning a B.S. in biology in 2003. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1997 to 2005 including a deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his military service, he attended Rosalind Franklin University earning both a PhD in Cell Biology and his doctorate in podiatric medicine. Dr. Olsen’s research interests include the refinement of current reconstructive surgical techniques in the foot and ankle and the pathology of the complications of diabetes mellitus. Dr. Olsen completed his residency training at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in June 2016 with a focus in rearfoot, reconstructive and ankle surgery. Dr. Olsen enjoys spending time with his wife Brenda and dog Carter. In their spare time, Dr. Olsen and Brenda enjoy cooking together (a skill he learned in the Army), and taking Carter for long walks.
